Go ahead and say it one more time: that it’s just another car. 3-2 barrel carbs, mid 7000 RPM roller value train, summers gear drive, aluminum heads, steel block all belching out more fuel and fire. When downshifting to third drive at the way you want to, but it’s not another car. Any 400+ horse power small block is fun to drive and this 1955 Nomad is exactly that.
Engine runs hot at 200+ in heavy traffic, cools down nicely when engine gets up to speed. As an old-school builder auxiliary fans are not used. Stay out of parades, Friday downtown traffic, and if outside temperature is 100° just go to your favorite bar. Chevy 12 bolt rear, 4:11 gears, coil front suspension ladder bar with floating leaf springs. Puts this car in the weeds. Bauer brakes for stopping heavy throttle pedal for starting. Mechanically this car is prepped as if it was a race car. Tuned suspension on frame off chassis. Rolling on 18 and 20 inch Billet specialty wheels with KDW tires. Quality builds are never about money spent, but engineering and attention to detail. This car was built in house. Under the hood is all performance with lots of custom sheet metal fabrication. Pop the hood up and take it all in. Great stainless trim, decent chrome, nice glass. Paint quality is gypsy red mid 70’s lacquer left quarter panel is tired rest of car is rust free with dings and scratches. Roof is painted shoreline beige in basecoat clean coal urethane and is the quality that show cases our workmanship. Interior is a mixture of original and reproduction original style. Carpets slightly faded, drivers poor panel shrinking slightly. Small soft spot in drivers floor pan needs to be fixed. What a great interior. What a great era.
In summation this car has immense presence older restoration frame up under pinnings are engineered for performance, lots of style, with every nut & bolt receiving attention to detail.
The car needs to be painted to reach the next level. As such car will be priced accordingly. Listen to me guys and gals, this is one nice car with great style in a two door station wagon, it will be greatly missed.
